Wednesday head into their Championship opener at Cardiff City on Saturday having added Elias Kachunga and midfielder-slash-striker Josh Windass to an attacking arsenal currently consisting of only Jordan Rhodes.
Monk lined up with midfield men Adam Reach and Izzy Brown up top in Saturday’s 0-0 Carabao Cup draw at Walsall on an afternoon that saw his side create little against the League Two side.

Hide AdReports elsewhere have linked Danish youth international Zohore, 26, with both a loan and a permanent move to Hillsborough. But speaking to the media ahead of the Cardiff clash, Monk refused to be drawn on whether the target man was on their shortlist.
Nothing, he said, was particularly imminent as the Owls continue to navigate a crowded market.
“I think you’ve seen throughout, in any window, we’re linked with names continuously,” he said. “Some names are close and some names you’re way off the mark – I don’t know where you get your sources from!
“That’s part of it and I can’t comment on anything because we’re not imminent or close to anything at this moment in time.”

“What we’re trying to do is work hard behind the scenes to see if we can strengthen and when that comes you guys will be the first to know.”
Speaking to The Star at Walsall, Monk said: “We haven’t got the luxury of before, which is understandable in terms of the pandemic and where clubs are at now, but as I’ve said we have to cut our cloth accordingly and work in the market we can work in.
“I’m delighted with the players that have come in but it’s about finding the right ones and that quality. That market is competitive and the more competitive it gets the more expensive it gets the more expensive it gets and that can outmanoeuvre you in terms of what you can and can’t do.”
