Sheffield Wednesday’s under-23 side sneaked past their city rivals Sheffield United 1-0 at Bramall Lane to record their first win in four matches.
Owls keeper Josh Render made a handful of eye-catching stops but it was Bulgarian livewire Preslav Borukov that was the hero, bagging the winner with a nicely taken finish.
Wednesday fielded first team squad members David Bates, Jordan Thorniley and Ash Baker in the clash, which saw a handful of crunching challenges live up to the mantle of a Steel City derby.
