Wildsmith took his place between the sticks for the first time in the league with season after Dawson errors contributed to the Owls’ defeat at Rotherham in midweek.
“It was just to give a feel back to the team,” Monk said.
“It’s not just down to Cameron. We have had a lot of difficulties with the defence with injuries, sending-offs and things like that.

“That was the reason behind it.”
Speaking after the Wycombe defeat, Wednesday’s fourth on the spin, Monk said on the performance: “The players gave everything today, they worked and battled.
“It’s not running for us at the moment, we are missing that cutting edge.
“We’ve had all the possession in the second half but just couldn’t find that way through.

“I take the responsibility, I have no problem with that. I will keep giving everything I have to get us out of this run of results. It’s not good enough for a club like Sheffield Wednesday.
“But we are together, the boys are together and you can see that with what has just been said in the changing room.”
