Morgan Fox’s third goal of the season set them on their way to an assured away performance before Sam Winnall finished the job off in injury time.
A mistake from goalkeeper Cameron Dawson cost the team a clean sheet but did little to take the gloss off a win that puts them into the last 32 for just the second time in six seasons.

“We can talk about whatever we want but you’ve got to see it.
“In that performance there was a lot of what we’d talked about. It goes a little way towards getting back from what happened last week. We restored a little bit of pride.”
Monk hailed a number of individual performances including those of young substitute Alex Hunt and loanee Jacob Murphy, who was a constant threat until he was brought off with cramp midway through the second half.

But after a week in which Monk and his players staged ‘clear the air talks’ after their 5-0 humbling at home to Blackburn, the 40-year-old expressed his delight at a job well done.
He said: “We deserved to win the game and we did, and that’s the most important thing.
“We had the attitude and desire. We’ve seen that and when they’ve got that sort of attitude and belief we win games. When we’re not, as we saw last week, it can be the worst that we’ve had.
