“He hasn’t scored a league goal this season but he’s in Chris Wilder’s team nearly every week. Why? Because he is a team player and a perfect example of why a modern-day forward has to be about more than scoring goals. His contribution is huge — he defends from the front, terrorises defenders, makes clever and selfless runs to create space for his team-mates.
“He is similar to Roberto Firmino at Liverpool — not in terms of ability but in terms of his value to the team as a whole.
“McGoldrick is a great modern striker — I’m sure the goals will come — and the likes of Aubameyang could learn a lot from watching him play.”
