Council set to buy former Co-op building in South Yorkshire

A council spokesperson said “talks are ongoing” with an unnamed business to take on the 9,013 sq. ft ground floor of the building.
The upper floors are being converted in to new apartments.
Councillor Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said that he council is “in the process” of buying the leasehold interest of the former supermarket.

Hide AdHe added that the council had “negotiated an agreement” prior to the leasehold going to auction.
He stated: “The council is working with third parties on plans to bring the building back into use.
“These discussions are commercially sensitive so further detail cannot be released at this time. However we hope to have exciting news to release about this site in the near future.”
