Man arrested for 'racially aggravated' public order offence in busy town centre

A man has been arrested on a busy town centre street on suspicion of committing racially aggravated public order offences.

Rotherham South NHP revealed that the 42-year-old man was arrested on Howard Street in Rotherham on Wednesday morning.

A force spokesman said: "A 42-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of committing Racially aggravated public order offences on Howard Street, Rotherham yesterday morning.

"The male has been released whilst the investigation continues."

Police in Rotherham have also released CCTV as part of their investigation into a series of sexual assaults in the Swinton area in 2017.

Officers said they believe the attacks are all linked and have released moving footage of an individual they would like to speak to as part of the enquiry.
