A disused South Yorkshire school was damaged in a blaze last night.

Firefighters were called to the former Maltby Hall Infants School building in Maltby, Rotherham, at 9.05pm and spent three hours extinguishing the blaze and damping down.

They have returned to the school this morning to check on the remains of the school.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway.
