Woman in hospital and two suspects arrested after attack in Sheffield city centre

A woman is in hospital with serious head injuries after she was assaulted in Sheffield city centre.

The 62-year-old was assaulted on High Street at around 11.20pm yesterday and was taken to hospital, where she remains today in a serious but stable condition.

Two men, aged 55 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of serious assault and remain in police custody today.

A police cordon is in place between NatWest and Sports Direct while enquiries are carried out.
