South Yorkshire Police said the operation was mounted in Hillsborough and Walkley following ‘reports of cars travelling at excessive speed’.

Hide AdSheffield North West neighbourhood policing team, said: “We've had reports of cars travelling at excessive speed in Hillsborough and Walkley, so we had patrols using a speed camera to identify speeding motorists.
“This is not a money making exercise - of 22 cars identified as exceeding the limit only a couple of traffic offence reports were issued and the vast majority of people stopped were given advice only.
“We also made sure that COVID regulations were being complied with and everyone had a good reason to be out.”
