A hapless criminal approached a police officer in Sheffield offering him drugs.

When the crook was searched in Parson Cross he was found to have a knuckleduster in his pocket, and he was subsequently arrested.

The bizarre incident was part of a busy week for South Yorkshire Police’s Parson Cross neighbourhood team, which included chasing down a youth caught throwing mud and stones at people's homes in Ecclesfield, helping to arrest anti-social bikers and dealing with a dangerous driver.

The team’s work was relayed by PC Paul Ward in a pun-laden update inspired by the heavyweight boxing clash between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder

“A beWILDERed PC Bly was approached by a male stating he had A J’s worth of cannabis,” he wrote.

“He was then subject to a further search which uncovered a far from lightweight knuckleduster in his pocket. The male was arrested for possessing an offensive weapon and cannabis.”
