6:25pm - Disgraced former cop sobs as he is jailed

A disgraced ex-South Yorkshire Police officer has been jailed, after he started a sexual relationship with a domestic abuse victim and went on to send her confidential material including a video of a murder scene.

Former South Yorkshire Police Constable, Liam Mills, 34-year-old, sobbed as he was sentenced to nine months behind bars after pleading guilty to two counts of misconduct in a public office and a data protection offence.

5:38pm - Sheffield street closed after hit and run collision

A Sheffield street had to be closed today after a hit and run collision – yards from where a police raid was being carried out.

An ambulance was called out to Beck Road, Shiregreen this morning after the collision, which is understood to have been spotted by officers who had just minutes previously been involved in a raid further down the street.

5:05pm - Woman arrested over gun after police raid

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, say police who raided a house in Sheffield this morning.

Police say they carried out a warrant at the property in Shiregreen this morning and are continuing with their investigations.

4:57am - South Yorkshire man jailed for 25 years for raping young girl

A 57-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for a range of child sexual abuse charges starting when his victim was just 12.

Philip Martin was found guilty of 10 offences of child sexual abuse, ranging from rape to sexual assault to causing/inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

2:16pm - Fracking licences for Sheffield revealed

Sheffield Liberal Democrats have highlighted evidence which shows the city could face oil and gas exploration, including fracking.

The group looked at a map created by environment campaign Friends of the Earth, showing the number of oil and gas extraction licences currently held by Parliamentary constituency.

11:55am - Large police presence as street is closed off

A street on a Sheffield estate is closed off at one end and there is a large police presence there this morning.

A number of police officers were deployed to Beck Road, Shiregreen, earlier today.

Some damaged cars can be seen on the street with glass and debris strewn around them.

Boy, 17, seriously injured in hit-and-run crash last night

A teenager is in a serious condition in hospital after being injured in a hit-and-run crash in Sheffield last night.

The 17-year-old was wounded when a blue Volkswagen Passat taxi and a black Mercedes C220 AMG collided on Chaucer Road in Parson Cross just before midnight on Thursday, September 29.

The driver of the Mercedes failed to stop, said police.

11:14am - Mother loses unborn baby in car meet crash which killed her friend

A mother lost her unborn child after being injured in the horror car meet crash which killed her friend Connor Richards, from Sheffield.

Georgia Wood has spoken of her heartbreak after the tragic events at the gathering in Flixborough, near Scunthorpe, where she was one of 11 people injured after being struck by a driver.

10:11am - Former Sheffield Unites striker acquitted of rape marries long-term partner

Former Sheffield United striker, Ched Evans, has married his long-term girlfriend, Natasha Massey, in a lavish ceremony, reports suggest.

The couple are believed to have tied the knot in a ceremony held this summer.

Ched, aged 33, was convicted of raping a woman at a hotel in Wales in 2011, but was cleared after a high-profile retrial in 2017.
