Boy, 13, rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries' after crash closes Sheffield road

A 13-year-old boy was rushed to hospital with “serious injuries” after being hit by a car in Sheffield.

Police and paramedics were called to Norton Avenue at around 6pm on Wednesday (28 October) following reports of a road traffic collision.

One witness said they saw no fewer than 10 police vehicles at the scene, with a police helicopter circling overhead.

The road was closed following the incident, with diversions in place.

First South Yorkshire tweeted that Service 18 has been affected, with the route diverted via Norton Lane, Blackstock Road, Constable Road, Raeburn Road and Leighton Road.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 6pm on Wednesday 28 October to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a 13-year-old boy on Norton Avenue,

“Police and paramedics attended the scene and the road was closed whilst they carried out their work. The 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.”
