Barnsley: Man charged with multiple offences after woman threatened with axe

A man has been remanded into custody after a woman was threatened with an axe in a South Yorkshire town.

South Yorkshire Police has said it responded to reports that a woman had been threatened with the weapon outside a property on Bridge Street, Barnsley, at around 9.20am on Tuesday (Apr 11). A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Today, Kelham Hendley, of Bridge Street, was charged with three offences: threatening a person with an offensive weapon, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault.

Hendley has been remanded into custody.
