It was a great day for Sheffield United…and a win for St Luke’s Hospice too!

For while the Blades enjoyed a 4-1 victory over Cardiff City, the St Luke’s team managed to raise a fantastic £1,760 in support from generous football fans.

Volunteers from Sheffield’s hospice were out in force for a bucket collection before the fixture began.

And fundraisers Ellie Matthews and Gemma Lancaster were invited to visit the executive boxes and hospitality suite to encourage further giving.

Fans also saw St Luke’s branding shared on Bramall Lane’s big screen, with a donation QR code printed in the match day programme to make giving even easier.

“We were delighted at the level of support we received from everybody at Sheffield United,” said Ellie.

“Not only did we manage to raise a great amount of money but we also had a fantastic opportunity to spread the word about the vital work St Luke’s does in supporting terminally ill people throughout the city.

“It was definitely a great day for Sheffield United and their fans - but they made it a great day for us too.”
