I've just read the James Shield column in The Star about Mel Sterland being the last Sheffield born player to play for England in 1988.
I've just read the James Shield column in The Star about Mel Sterland being the last Sheffield born player to play for England in 1988.

I would think David Hirst was the last South Yorkshire born player (born Barnsley) 1991 versus Australia and
New Zeland 1992 versus France and more recently David Seaman (born Rotherham) 75 caps.

But is Hirsty the last South Yorkshire Barnsley born, Sheffield Wednesday based player from our reigon to represent England? .
