Tom Cruise pulled off a real-life rescue his big screen alter-ego Ethan Hunt would be proud of while filming for Mission Impossible 7 in Yorkshire.

The movie star was called into action for real during shooting for the latest instalment of the high-octane franchise at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

He rushed to prevent a cameraman who had lost his footing on top of a moving stream train from sliding down the carriage, the Daily Mail reported.

Cruise reportedly grabbed hold of the cameraman, who was wearing a harness, and helped him back onto his feet while shooting a scene last week.

The 58-year-old is expected to visit the Peak District soon, with a spectacular set is taking shape in Stoney Middleton, Derbyshire.

A railway line has been set up at Darlton Quarry there, with the track extending out over the precipitious drop.

Cruise will appear in Mission Impossible 7 which is scheduled to hit cinemas in May 2022, with Hayley Atwell and Simon Pegg.
