While the result didn’t go their way, Wednesday fans certainly made their presence felt.
More than 40,000 Wednesdayites made the journey to the capital and West London was a sea of blue and white as the masses descended on the national stadium for the final.
We all know what happened next – the team didn’t turn up but the supporters certainly did and their prescence was what made the occasion memorable rather than the match itself.
It was supposed to be the start of something big but having fallen at the seni-final stage the following season, the drop has been steep and from one step from the Premier League, they’re now in League One.
Who knows, perhaps there’ll be another trip to Wembley to come this time next year… though we’d all much rather have that automatic promotion place!
