Sheffield Wednesday striker acknowledged for his ‘outstanding efforts’

Wednesday teenager, Alex Bonnington, has been doing his thing on the field for some time now, scoring goals for the U18s as he looks to try an work his way up the ladder at Hillsborough.
Now, with football almost at a return following the Coronavirus outbreak, the 17-year-old forward has been praised by League Football Education and named in the latest edition of ‘The 11’.

Hide Ad‘The 11’ accolade ‘acknowledges outstanding effort on and off the pitch, as well as assessing other factors, including involvement in community or charity-based initiatives’, and the Owls Acdemy forward has been praised by the LFE and SWFC.
Giving the reasons for his acknowledgement, the LFE website said, “Alex is renowned at Sheffield Wednesday for his high levels of effort and application in every training session, which has seen him earn Under-23s involvement as a first-year apprentice.
“The 17-year-old striker is equally dedicated as a student, gaining a Distinction in every BTEC Extended Diploma unit this season, while he asked for additional work to complete during this period of working from home.”
Meanwhile, Wednesday’s Head of Education & Welfare, Dan Potts, told LFE: “Alex has done absolutely everything asked of him this season and during this stint in isolation, with tasks including education, analysis, sport science workouts and conditioning.

Hide Ad“He had a mid-season dip in form and has worked with club staff through this adversity to come back stronger and more determined. Alex filmed a great short video of him completing some skills at home, which the club used on their social media to engage our supporters during lockdown.”
Bonnington scored twice for the Owls in their last game before football ground to a halt in March, bagging a brace in their 4-0 win over Burnley at Middlewood Road three months ago, and will no doubt be itching to get going again as the return to action draws closer.
