Sheffield Wednesday set for return, Garry Monk's new recruits expected to be involved
It was confirmed on Wednesday that the Owls had recruited James Beattie (assistant manager), Darryl Flahavan (goalkeeper coach) and Andrew Hughes (first team coach) to bolster Monk’s technical team, while one new signing, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru from Manchester City, has also been unveiled.
The Star understands that all four are expected to be part of SWFC’s return to the training ground this week as the manager gets his first preseason in Sheffield underway, and their arrival seems to have brought a swell of renewed optimism to the Wednesday faithful after a tough 2019/20 campaign.

Beattie, especially, has been welcomed with open arms – despite his Sheffield United links – following the good work that he did with players such as Chris Wood at Leeds United and Che Adams at Birmingham City, with supporters hopeful that he can assist in fixing the club’s scoring problem.
While FDB will be the only new player present, both Matt Penney and Joost van Aken are expected back after their respective loan spells in Germany last season.
