Sheffield Wednesday have been crying out for a new striker, well now they’ve got one - Enter Elias Kachunga

The German youth international is no stranger to Owls fans having come up against SWFC on five separate occasions since he made the move to England with Huddersfield Town, but he is expected to play a different role in South Yorkshire than he did in the West.
Following a number of striker exits from Hillsborough at the end of the 2019/20 season, the pressure has been on for Garry Monk to bring in a forward to work alongside Jordan Rhodes and help eat away at the club’s 12-point deficit, and he’ll be hoping that Kachunga can do just that.

Hide AdKachunga has scored 46 goals and gotten 22 assists in the 150 games when he’s been utilised as a centre forward or second striker, but the goals did dry up for him at Huddersfield as they moved him into the wide positions – on the left or right – where he scored a lot less.
With Wednesday looking likely to keep using the 3-5-2 formation, the attacker could be used as a wide man once again, however it appears much more likely that he will sit in the space between Wednesday’s midfield and whoever starts as an out-and-out striker.
With that in mind, there’s a chance of a link-up with former Terriers teammate, Izzy Brown, as they look to rekindle some of the magic that secured promotion to the Premier League back in 2017, while both former Huddersfield men find a familiar face at Hillsborough in first team coach, Andrew Hughes.
Though he’s more known for his pace and trickery given his role out wide, most of Kachunga’s goals in the Championship and Premier League have come from headers, suggesting that he could also be suited to filling the hole left by Steven Fletcher’s departure for Stoke City.
