Sheffield Wednesday boss hypes up ‘exciting’ new signing Mallik Wilks – thanks Hull City
The Owls snapped up Wilks earlier this week as their 10th signing of the summer, with the club paying out an undisclosed fee to Hull City in order to get their man after a long-running saga that has gone on for over two months.
The 23-year-old wasn’t able to play against Rochdale on Tuesday night as Wednesday ran out as 3-0 winners at Hillsborough due to being cup-tied, however he has been registered and is eligible for the game against Forest Green when League One action returns this weekend – as long as he’s blown enough cobwebs off after a few months of relative inactivity in terms of time on the field.

Well done for everyone here for working on the deal… We thank Hull City for their cooperation in doing the deal. He was someone I wanted to bring here. He is someone I chased for a long time at a previous club.
“We’ve got some work to do with him and the staff, but we are really pleased to welcome him to the football club. He can blow off the cobwebs and hopefully play some good football here.
“He brings a wonderful excitement to the game. He is a flair player. He brings us another attacking dimension, which is what we want, when we come to team shape and formation. He’s happy playing inside the pitch and on the outside of it, which gives us that other dimension. I’m pleased to have him on board.
“He’s really powerful, works on the shoulder of defenders… But in one-on-one situations he can go past somebody and create the overload. He brings us an attacking flair to us individually, and as a team we’re really pleased to have him on board.
