Preslav Borukov among the youngsters released as Sheffield Wednesday announce retained list

Bulgarian youth international Borukov claimed a place on the bench in January’s third round FA Cup win at QPR and was a name highly touted by supporters for his efforts in the club’s youth ranks.
But his time with the Owls is over after three-year stint in South Yorkshire.

Hide AdThe list confirms The Star’s reports that goalkeeper Josh Render and exciting attacking midfielder and former Manchester City man Ben Hughes have been kept on, as has Republic of Ireland youth international Ciaran Brennan, who spent time on loan at Gainsborough Trinity earlier this season.
The highly-rated Fraser Preston will also move on alongside Omar Damba, Jordan O’Brien, Jack Lee, Connor Kirby and Joe West.
Jack Stobbs’ departure was confirmed some weeks ago. He leaves the club with five first-team appearances under his belt.
From the Under-18s, the following players have agreed professional contracts and will step up into the Owls Under-23 squad; Luke Jackson, Luke Cox, Lewis Farmer, Charlie Reaney, Declan Thompson and Charles Hagan.

Hide AdToby Kenyon, Elliott Vasalo, L’Varn Brandy, Sam Oliver and Michael Ellery have been released.
A statement from the club read: “Sheffield Wednesday would like to place on record its thanks to all those leaving the club and wish them all the best for the future.”
A handful of youngsters including Liam Shaw and Conor Grant have joined the teenagers Alex Hunt and Osaze Urhoghide in first-team training in recent weeks.
