The 26-year-old, who has spoken at length about his desire to get his career with Wednesday back on track in recent weeks, revealed that he initiated the meeting after a poor run of form had seen him fall out of Monk’s plans in favour of the resurgent Morgan Fox.
Odubajo was a shock omission from the well-rotated FA Cup squad that travelled to Premier League Brighton at the turn of the year, with teenage rookie Osaze Urhoghide preferred in the Owls’ vacant right-back spot.

“Initially I decided to assess my options and have a good think about things. It didn’t take me long to think there was no point continuing to do that when I knew I was good enough to be in the squad and play.
“It made me get my head down and stick at it and try to show everyone what I know I can do on the pitch.
“I started training well and before I knew it doors were starting to open up in terms of getting back into the starting 11, then there was an injury [to Fox] that brought me back into the team.”

“This break has come at a good time for me,” he said. “It does feel like a clean break.
“I’m tired of speaking about the past and what’s happened, I just want to get my head down and work hard and start enjoying my football again.”
