It was the return of Darren Moore to Hillsborough as the Terriers visited S6, Neil Thompson leading the Owls out for the first time since Xisco’s firing earlier in the week - and he made plenty of changes to the side as all but one of the Spaniard’s signings were left out of the starting XI.
In a game of few chances a goalless draw was probably a fair result, and though it didn’t help Wednesday’s league position there was certainly a more positive atmosphere around the place as they finally moved from two points to three.
Here’s how we rated them this afternoon:
1. Cameron Dawson - 5
A couple of jitters maybe early doors in his first game back, but Dawson showed good composure as the game went on and didn’t really put a foot wrong as the game went on - didn’t have much to do.
2. Liam Palmer - 5
Tidy enough performance from the long-serving Owl as he returned to the right wingback position wearing the captain’s armband. Did his duty well defensively but didn’t offer too much going forward. Some loose touches as well.
3. Dominic Iorfa - 7
Solid showing from Iorfa as he sat on the right of a back three. Won plenty in the air and was positionally strong as Wednesday stopped any real threat from the opponents. Some excellent interventions.
4. Michael Ihiekwe - 7
Back from the wilderness after a few games out of the squad under Xisco, Ihiekwe brought everything that you’d expect him to. Powerful in the air, strong in the challenge, and helped with organisation.
