Major Sheffield Wednesday blow as Tom Lees is taken to hospital
The defender was taken straight to hospital during the 3-1 defeat to Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon after a nasty fall saw him land awkwardly on his ankle.
Lees, who will see his contract at Hillsborough expire at the end of the season, was soon surrounded by the medical team before being stretchered off an replaced by Osaze Urhoghide.

Hide AdIt’s since been revealed that he’d been taken to hospital, and that they’ve not found a fracture, however the severity of the injury is not known at this point in time.
Speaking after the game, when asked if Lees’ season was over, Smith told The Star, “Potentially, yeah, but we don’t know for definite… He’s at the hospital and had an X-ray and stuff, so we’re just waiting. I don’t think there’s a fracture or a break – which is good news – but we don’t know the full extent of the damage, we’re not too sure. It’s his ankle.
“It can affect you, most definitely, but I don’t think it affected us too badly… After he went off we were positive and on the front foot.”
Meanwhile Lees’ teammate, Andre Green, admitted that they were worried for him when they saw him stretchered off, but were pleased to hear that it wasn’t as bad as first thought.
