Former Sheffield Wednesday flop joins League Two side
Jones, released by the Owls at the end of last season, was an unused substitute in the Latics 1-0 defeat to Burton Albion in the FA Cup second round.
The 35-year-old, who made just two appearances for the Owls during the 2018/19 season, signed a short-term deal with the League Two club after impressing during a trial spell last week.

Hide AdOldham boss Dino Maamria said: "With the busy Christmas period coming up, we decided to add some more quality and experience in our light midfield area.
"Despite his age, David has kept himself in great shape and has won multiple promotions during his career.
"He's coming to Oldham to make a real impact and help the team climb up the table."
Jones is expected to be included in Oldham’s squad when they entertain Leyton Orient on Saturday.
