'It's not football' - Sheffield Wednesday legend Chris Waddle blasts behind-closed-doors games
The Bundesliga returned to action yesterday giving us a snapshot of what things could be like if and when the Premier League and the Championship get going again here.
The matches in Germany were played out in empty stadia and made for an eerie atmosphere, with only the sounds of the players’ and coaches shouts making any kind of atmosphere.

Hide AdAll eyes had been on the division, with the football authorities, club officials, players and fans all keen to see how the games would be played out under such unique circumstances.
And while many will have been delighted to have some live football back on our screen, for Waddle at least, the lack of a crowd
Waddle tweeted on Sunday morning: “It's not football more like pre season friendlies; the people’s game, no crowds, no matches. simple!”

Hide AdAs well as the lack of a crowd, the players turned up wearing face masks and substitutes practised social distancing on the bench in what was an interesting and at times quite bizarre day of football.
Sheffield Wednesday loanee Matt Penney turns out for St Pauli today against Nurnberg, while another Owls player on loan in Germany, Joost Van Aken, takes on Arminia Bielefeld with Vfl Osnabrück.
