Here’s how our Owls reporter Alex Miller rated each player in the dramatic defeat in the Potteries. Do you agree with him?
1. Cameron Dawson - 7
Smartly off his line to sniff out danger on a couple of occasions. Made a good save at close range from Clucas when the game could have been lost and again from Shawcross late on and claimed well in the air. Wednesday's best in a game they conceded three. Photo: George Wood
2. Liam Palmer - 5
Could have done better for the opener you feel and was in and out of his battle with an inspired James McClean. Improved in the second half and offered width in possession. Photo: Lewis Storey
3. Dominic Iorfa - 5
Sluggish and at fault for the opener. He first lost it, won it, then left it and the Owls paid the price. Had another 'moment' just before the half-hour mark that he was lucky to get away with and missed the header for the winner. Uncharacteristic. Photo: Steve Ellis
4. Tom Lees - 6
Allowed a lot of possession by Stoke, his distribution was found wanting. Lost out once or twice too many times to Gregory, who was a handful. Rewarded for fine recent form, however, by heading home the second goal. Photo: Steve Ellis
