It was his second attempt to buy a major club after he made an offer to buy Sheffield Wednesday from Dejphon Chansiri earlier this year.
Alonso had previously been an advisor at Hillsborough.
Though his attempted Owls swoop never got off the ground, his Derby effort went some way further and having agreed a deal with long-time owner Mel Morris, it was believed to have got to the EFL ‘fit and proper’ testing stage.

Rams chief executive Stephen Pearce said on the club’s website: “In respect to the agreement with No Limits Sports Limited [Alonso’s company], this transaction is no longer under consideration.
“An announcement was made in April that a deal was agreed between Mel Morris and No Limits Sports Limited, but subsequent developments mean the deal is no longer an option.
“However, Mel Morris is in touch with a number of credible parties in respect to purchasing both the football club and Pride Park Stadium.
