Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed central defender Maguire will be United’s captain for the remainder of the season with Ashley Young on the verge of a move to Inter Milan.
The appointment comes just six months after the 26-year-old England international joined the Red Devils in a record-breaking £80m move from Leicester City.

Hide Ad“Harry has been wearing the captain's armband and he will keep wearing it,” said the United boss.
“He's come in and been a leader in the group.
“I've been, not surprised, but I've been impressed by his leadership skills, so Harry will keep on wearing the armband.
“He's come in and everything about him tells me he is a leader. He's part of a group that we've had, that have been leading this young group.
“Ashley has been of course, Marcus (Rashford) is a young lad, but also David (De Gea), Harry. So Harry will keep on wearing the armband now.”

Hide AdMaguire, who hails from Mosborough and came through the ranks at Bramall Lane, has been skipper for United on 12 occasions this season.
He played more than 160 times for the Blades’ first team in League One before joining Hull City, and later played for Leicester before his big-money move.
On his return to Bramall Lane with his current club in November, he was was applauded warmly before kick-off and afterwards sent a good luck message to the Blades for the rest of the season and thanked the fans for the reception he received.
