Although Wilder has insisted no football or coach should be forced to return to work until they feel totally safe - “People shouldn’t be criticised. Everyone’s personal situation is different” - he insisted those who are prepared to compete next month should not be prevented from doing so either.
United were seventh in the table when the season was suspended in March because of the growing health crisis and Wilder said: “There’s always a risk. The things the experts have put in place to enable us to get back are so detailed. They’ve been brilliant and all we can do is follow their advice because they know what they’re talking about.

Top-flight clubs have introduced bi-weekly screening programmes at their training complexes as PL officials press ahead with plans to lift the suspension on June 12, although that date could yet be rolled back.
Strict hygiene guidelines and social distancing measures, which limit the number of people allowed on site at any one time, have also been implemented.
“There’s no other industry that’s doing the things we’re doing,” Wilder said. “Everyone is doing what they can to make things safe.”
