The Sheffield United goalkeeper was an unused substitute during last night’s draw with a Scotland side which included his Bramall Lane team mate John Fleck among its replacements.
Having progressed through United’s youth system before moving to AFC Bournemouth, Ramsdale made a chequered start to his second spell with the South Yorkshire club following an £18.5m move back north last summer.

Commenting on Ramsdale’s rise, Alan Shearer, who scored 30 times in 63 appearances for his country, said: “He’s already got a wealth of experience at the top level. He’s got the fifth most appearances by a ‘keeper under 23 in Premier League history.
“For me, Ramsdale, he’s got lots of potential. He’s strong, he’s got the agility to stop shots from distance and he’s fearless, putting his body on the line from close range.”
After reporting for duty last week, Ramsdale is continuing to train with England at St George’s Park ahead of their final group encounter against the Czech Republic. Despite being frustrated by the Scots, Southgate’s men are still well placed to reach the knockout stages.
