Blades pre-Blackpool press conference
SJ on Blackpool test
It’s a really hard opponent. I watched a lot of the games, they have a system and play football with a lot of intensity. They will press us with energy, they are brave and play good football. I have tried to share this information with my team to prepare them for the challenge ahead.
SJ on Lys Mousset
He is working hard, he is trying to improve himself. We are here to help him, for more time on the field, but it is part of the responsibility on his side too. We expect his collaboration. He is working hard and in a positive mood, I hope that can help him grow up and be in a position to help us and play more games.
SJ on his strikers
We are talking about offensive players, I used Iliman and Didzy in these positions. The players have collaborated some days better and some days worse but I have a lot of the options and if something isn’t working I can try another guy with enough guarantees. Mousset made a good job for us in the last two games, I hope he can improve his fitness and be available for the competitive squad.
SJ on January transfer window
Manchester United don’t have the squad for what they want to do. Our job never stops, right now I care about my players and try to modify things to make them more competitive. If there is a possibility to improve the team in January it can be a good option for us. I am talking about how the squad needs balancing, I am focused on the competition ahead of us at the minute.
SJ on addressing defensive concerns
We’ll see in the next game. I wasn’t simple with what I found in one period of the Barnsley game. We were comfortable and we must avoid the situation we found at Barnsley. We made trouble for ourselves and we must prepare right to avoid that situation, and play football with personality without panicking. Barnsley made a good job but it wasn’t the first time it has happened in our game and we must control the situation when we dominate the game.
SJ on Guedioura
He’s working with the team, when I take the decision I need him in the field he’ll be available for selection.
SJ on injuries
No, we don’t have nothing new. We expect Sander can start working with us in the international break, he needs to work on his fitness and be ready for the competition. At the moment, he’s not in the squad who we are working with to prepare for the games.
