John Pemberton praises Chesterfield's players for taking pay cut

Pemberton, the players and club staff have all been placed on furlough with 80 per cent of their salaries to be covered by the government’s job retention scheme.
The players have also agreed to forgo a “top up” from the 80 per cent, company secretary Ashley Carson said.

Hide Ad“It has been well documented that everybody has been furloughed but also the players have agreed to take a pay cut,” Pemberton told the DT.
“With no money whatsoever coming into the club I think it is only right that everybody at the club does their part and we have done that.
“I think it is important to show as a club that we are united and we are prepared to do whatever it takes to help Chesterfield Football Club out so I think it is a great gesture from everyone.
“We wanted to give something back as a goodwill gesture to help out.

Hide Ad“It does not matter how much money you have got, people are feeling the effects of it and the owner is no different.”
The National League season has now been suspended indefinitely.
Reports suggest clubs could vote on how the season should be concluded this week.
“If there is any chance we can finish the season I am alright with that I have just got no idea how that is going to work with the time we have had off,” Pemberton added.
