Ballot the fans on where ex-Charterhouse shares should go
n 1) Dave Allen has done a great job. Without him where would we be? He’s stabilised the club, however we need an “investor” to move us forward. He’s fended off the bank in terms of debt management and recovery, he sent Ken Bates packing and rightly so. Look at the state of affairs in Leeds. My only criticism is his communication with the fans. They are the paying public and deserve an opinion or two!
n 2) Wednesdayite: Shambolic. Bates supporters. These are the people who are stopping this club from moving forward. If this continues, Leeds will be back from the abyss and pass us if this lot does not shake themselves.

n 4) The Squad: Poor start on Saturday, I’m sure some players will take the criticism on the chin (Bullen etc). As for Wood, Simek & Whelan, we should do what we can to keep these players, however, if 3 million is offered for one of them, it would be good business to take the money, as long as it’s used to rebuild the squad. I hope the signing of Jeffers wasn’t a knee jerk reaction; Laws has had a good record of signing strikers, although Leon Clarke may prove otherwise.
n 5) The Fans: Heart and soul of the club. Why doesn’t Wednesdayite and the club offer a ballot to season ticket holders to determine where the ex Charterhouse Shares should sit?

Pre-season failures

Hide AdEven considering Wednesday’s financial constraints, Laws’ pre–season work raises serious doubts:
n Players banned following the Dutch tour, where European refs are much less tolerant of our more physical game
n Failure to secure a reasonably–priced target man (Clive Platts to Colchester for 300,000)
n Not sufficiently bolstering defence (witness Bullen’s display at Ipswich and on the first game last year against Preston)

n Compared to Ipswich, utter lack of fitness and motivation.

Goodbye from me
Two pre season defeats to lesser clubs, two unwanted free goalies and a centre half not good enough to play for Scunnie also on a free. Ambition being shown across the city, a chairman who is abusive towards his clubs fans, 10-Plus years of poor results, an ageing stadium, nothing changes except with age my desire to experience it all again. Its goodbye from me.

Hard season ahead
What did everyone expect? Pre-season, we got rolled over easily by Port Vale and Oldham.

Hide AdLaws and Allen sell our best player (Bougherra) and make no attempt to replace him, instead rely on 35 year old Bullen who was struggling at the end of last season and bring in another 35 year old Watson! We sign two 3rd choice keepers and a lower division journeyman in Hinds!
We need a goalkeeper, left back, centre back and an athletic midfielder just to compete in this division.
A long hard season is in store otherwise.

Poor partnership
Monty & Leigertwood should never have been together in United’s midfield against Colchester. Ashmore should have started, judging by his good performances in pre-season
