Flood alert in place for Sheffield as severe rain is forecast this morning

The Lower Rother’s levels are rising due to the rainfall over night, and the flood alert is in place for surrounding areas Woodhouse, Aston, Killamarsh and Eckington.
The Met Office has said: “River levels on the Lower Rother are currently falling, but are expected to rise again later this morning in response to the rainfall overnight.

Hide Ad“We are expecting river levels to peak around late afternoon on the 24/02/20. Flooding of low-lying roads and farmland remains possible. Areas most at risk are Renishaw Golf Club.
“Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses.”
The alert comes as a yellow weather warning for rain and snow is also in place for the county, with the downpour forecast to last until this afternoon.
Some sunshine is forecast for this afternoon.
