VIDEO: Final tour of Sheffield landmark before demolition
Work to demolish The Grosvenor House Hotel has begun this morning, exactly 50 years since the five-star establishment first opened.
The building is being torn down with machinery, as an exploded demolition is not possible in the city centre. Developers expect the site top be fully cleared by April 2017.

Hide AdThe former hotel on Charter Square is being torn down to make way for new buildings which will form part of the £480m Sheffield Retail Quarter development – including the new offices of HSBC.
Before the landmark is destroyed, The Star was taken on a special tour of the former hotel, which has dominated the city skyline for decades.
