Strong winds lead to restrictions on the M1 in South Yorkshire

The motorway was closed to high-sided and vulnerable vehicles in both directions at junction 34 near Meadowhall due to winds buffeting the Tinsley Viaduct.
Highways England said affected vehicles including HGVs, motorbikes and caravans should consider alternative routes for their journeys this evening, Thursday, January 30.
The restrictions were lifted shortly before 9.30pm.

Hide AdRestrictions were also put in place on the A628 Woodhead Pass, which was closed to high-sided and vulnerable vehicles in both directions between the A57 near Woolley Bridge and the A616 near Langsett.
Highways England said it ws monitoring wind speeds, and the restrictions would only be lifted once it is safe to do so.
