Number of passengers using Sheffield station soars to nearly 10 million
and live on Freeview channel 276
There were 9.9 million entries and exits made at the railway station during 2018/19, which was 2.5 per cent more than the previous year.
That made it the 44th busiest station in Great Britain and the third busiest in Yorkshire & The Humber, behind Leeds (30.8m) and York (10.0m).

Hide AdDore & Totley saw the biggest rise within Sheffield, according to the latest estimates published by the Office of Rail and Road, with passenger numbers up by 11.4 per cent to just shy of 200,000.
Passenger numbers fell at the city’s other stations, including Meadowhall, which was used just under 1.8m times, a fall of 4.1 per cent.
Chapeltown was the second busiest, with just over 300,000 users, ahead of Woodhouse (33,000) and Darnall (13,000).
Nationally, London Waterloo was the busiest station, with 94.2m entries and exits, and Birmingham New Street was the busiest outside London, with 47.9m users.

Hide AdThe joint quietest stations in the country were Denton, in Greater Manchester, and Stanlow & Thornton, in Cheshire, where just 46 entries and exits were made during the year.
The annual statistics are only an estimate as not all stations are gated.
