Adwick and Carcroft Councillor Rachel Hodson said councillors and the public had been concerned about the current speed limit.
“There’s been two incidents where cars have hit students in the last academic year. In both incidents the students were very lucky.
“Anything that helps improve road safety is welcome.”
One pupil was hit in January just outside the school, which is on the A638 in Adwick. Another was hit in November 2015.

Deputy Mayor Coun Glyn Jones said: “A four-year programme, that will be completed in early 2017, will see speed reduction measures introduced outside all schools. The measures have been tailored to suit each school in order to improve safety around the entrances to schools. The safety of our children is a top priority.”
