Sheffield parking permits to go paperless
The city council is changing the way it issues resident, business and green permits by getting rid of the paper document.
Instead people will be able to register their vehicle online, similar to how drivers no longer need to display a paper tax disc.

Hide AdParking officers will scan car number plates to find out if vehicles have permits.
The new system will go live on March 21. The council is e-mailing residents to explain the process this week.
Visitor, business pool, and trade and utility parking permits will also be available online later in the year. But carer and medical parking permits are not changing.
Cabinet member for transport Mazher Iqbal said the council was 'committed to simplifying processes' wherever possible.

Hide Ad“Using the system is easy and accessible and should make the process simpler for thousands of city residents.
“It will take just a few minutes to apply and receive a permit as compared with five days using the former paper-based system," he added.
Valid paper permits must still be displayed until they expire.
