Sheffield charity reveal most popular children's birthday cake requests
Free Cakes for Kids has revealed the most popular birthday cakes requested by children in the city to mark the milestone achievement.
Disney’s Frozen and Peppa Pig are the most-requested cake for both girls and boys, with traditional favourites Spiderman, Minnie Mouse and Thomas the Tank Engine not too far behind.

Hide AdGroup Coordinator, Kate Thorpe said, “Our volunteers do their best to make a personalised birthday cake for those children in Sheffield who wouldn’t otherwise get a cake. We’ve made cakes which celebrate children’s passions – from canoeing to caring for pets – and themes as varied as Noah’s Ark, unicorns and motorbikes.”

A free children’s gingerbread decorating workshop organised by the charity will take place in the Winter Gardens on Monday May 30 as part of the Sheffield Food Festival and a cake stall for grown-ups in the Peace Gardens to raise money to make more birthday cakes.
Over 60 volunteers are signed up to make and deliver birthday cakes.

Hide AdThey work closely with social workers, schools, food banks, hostels and homeless charities who request homemade cakes on behalf of children they support.
Volunteer Nicola McHugh looked at the data behind the cakes, revealing, “Looking at the details of 400 cakes is a great insight into what children are passionate about. Over 60 separate referral agencies – including schools, charities and social workers – request cakes from us for children they support.”
