Second Doncaster school issues coronavirus alert after ski trip to Italy

Don Valley Academy has also issued advice to parents and pupils after Hall Cross Academy announced it had ordered pupils who had attended a half-term trip to the region into a 14-day period of self-isoslation.
Pupils at Don Valley have also recently returned from a school trip to Italy – but the school has said there is currently no risk to pupils.

Hide AdIn a statement, a school spokesman said: “We would like to reassure you that students on the recent ski trip to Italy were in a region that was a considerable distance from the area where the coronavirus is confirmed.
“There are no confirmed cases in that region where the ski trip was. The advice from the Government is for regions a considerable distance from where the ski trip was.
“We are monitoring the situation, taking advice from the Government and will post any updates when we receive them.”
Inter School Travel, which arranged the ski trip for Don Valley said: “There have been reports in the news recently regarding some confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the Lombardy and Veneto regions of Italy.

Hide Ad“We would like to reassure all of our clients that we closely follow the advice issued by the UK government regarding all matters relating to travel in general and in particular, travel to Italy.
“Despite the confirmation of these cases, the government’s advice remains unaltered and that there is currently no suggestion anyone should avoid travelling to Italy.
“We would like to further confirm that the regions affected are a considerable distance from the Aosta Valley, the only destination to which we operate.
Italy has the largest number of confirmed cases in Europe. It raised that total on Tuesday to 283. Seven people have died.
