Hide AdCouncillor Peter Fielding asked Councillor Trevor Cave, cabinet spokesperson for children’s services, if the school was expected to be ready in 14 weeks’ time – as “no work has yet commenced on site and parents are understandably concerned that the school will not be ready”.
Coun Cave admitted that works have been delayed due to “unforeseen circumstances, beyond the council’s control”.
Pupils due to attend Trinity will instead be sent to Eastgate House in the town centre, a former Barnsley College site.
Coun Cave told the meeting: “The Department for Education, which is leading the development, that the temporary site at Keresforth Close is delayed, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the council’s control.
