The annual event on May 15 raises awareness of those who refuse to participate in armed conflict.
Sheffield Creative Action for Peace (SCRAP) gathered at the Cenotaph at 2pm on Saturday to pay their respects to those “who stood for peace at risk of their own life and liberty when all around were calling for war.”

Hide AdA spokesperson said: “We also wanted to show solidarity with those who are suffering imprisonment and stigma today for refusing to carry out military service in countries where there is still no right to register as a Conscientious Objector.
“We should be cooperating worldwide to help each other to survive the global pandemic, not supporting arms industries and war machines that destroy communities, support systems and environments.”
SCRAP’s ‘creative activism’ includes street theatre, music and crafting.
