Barnsley Council has been asked for permission to convert the Collingwood Hotel in Bolton on Dearne, with councillors due to make the decision shortly.
In addition to the restaurant, three two-bedroomed apartments would be created by the changes, with one featuring a single bedroom and there would be space outside for four private parking spaces and another ten for restaurant customers.

Coun Charlotte Johnson, who represents the area, asked for the application to go before councillors for a decision because of concerns raised in the area over vehicle access and parking.
Traffic and parking congestion have also been raised as issues by people contacting Barnsley Council over the application, along with fears over loss of privacy for one neighbour and the potential for noise disturbance.

They say the change of use of the building is acceptable, with the existing space outside the pub providing enough parking and room for taxis to turn around.
As such, council highways officials believe the existing facilities are adequate for the building’s future purpose.
