Four-year-old from Sheffield enjoys first shopping trip since coronavirus lockdown to buy birthday clothes

Nza Ahmad, from Sharrow, celebrated her fourth birthday on Monday, June 15, by visiting some of the newly reopened shops on The Moor in the morning to pick out a special outfit to be worn at a small party with her three sisters and her parents later that day.
After waiting for around 25 minutes, the four-year-old and her family were able to enter the H&M store however outside other retailers, including Primark and Sports Direct, shoppers faced longer queues.

Hide AdNza’s father Jabar Shexani has since shared images of the ecstatic youngster who can be seen with a huge smile on her face as she clutches a shopping bag after the successful trip.
Jabar, 43, said: “Three months waiting in one house, scared to go out, always watching the news, it was so hard for us but yesterday all my children were so happy it was fantastic.
“They went out and were seeing other people out and about. Nza was very happy, she kept shouting and clapping.
“It’s been such a change. My oldest daughter, 14, recently got a message from the school saying they won’t be able to welcome her back until September and my seven-year-old who is still in primary school went back yesterday only for three hours a day.

Hide Ad“We also planned to go back to our home country, Iraq, for a holiday but there were no flights and the borders are closed. All our family are there and we go every year in the summer holidays and stay there for two months but we couldn’t do that.”
Nza is now looking forward to joining Sharrow Primary School in September, while Jabar has returned to work at Sartak Travel agents, in Pitsmoor, where he says he has been inundated with emails and calls from others who have had their holidays cancelled.
“Even today the children as asking to go out again,” Jabar added. “They want to go to Meadowhall but I think it may be too busy, maybe sometime in the future that’ll be the next trip.”
