Memories of bridges and hidden rivers
Alex Moore's article on the 'City's Hidden Rivers' triggered some memories for me.
During the 1940s dad and I took the N0 32 Woodthorpe bus from Pond Street to travel home to the Manor Estate.
The bus went down Pond Hill, past the Queens Head crossing a bridge over the River Sheaf that flowed, in view, parallel to Sheaf Street.

Hide AdI took the photograph of some extensive culvert work being carried out near to the present location of Park Square.
I assume the culvert was for the River Sheaf.
I think that the picture was probably taken during the 1980s.
