LATEST: District Commander to give statement outside Sheffield flat where police officers were attacked with axe
Chief Superintendent David Hartley, Sheffield’s District Commander, will address the media gathered outside the flat in Plowright Close, Gleadless Valley, where the woman and a male colleague were attacked after calling at the property to deal with a domestic incident.
After attacking the two bobbies, the man with the axe then fled to the nearby Co-op store in Blackstock Road, where he began hurling missiles at staff and customers.

Hide AdThree other police officers who arrived at the shop to arrest him were also injured.
A man is being held this afternoon on suspicion of attempted murder.
The press conference is due to take place at 1pm.
